Now You See Me- research into target audience

Now you see me-audience research
https://www.facebook.com/NowYouSeeMeMovie
The Facebook page of the film shows the average age group of the people who visit this page, this tells us that the average audience members were most likely 18-24 years old despite the fact that there is 12 age certification.

However the movie site Imdb provides a more in depth look at the audience of the film. A total of 245,242 users on the website have rated the film out of 10 stars and the film has an average rating of 7.3 and there are 478 qualitative reviews of the film,334 from critics.

These table are updated daily(15.01.14) on IMDb. As shown by the table we can see that there were more overall ratings by males than females which implies that the thriller genre and the film  may be aimed more at males. There were also only 8081 raters who were under 18 which suggests that despite there was only a 12 certification that it was not as popular with 12 to 17 year old than other films such as fast and furious 6 and epic .The most amount of raters group was aged 18-29 which suggests that this is the age group we should aim our thriller for. The results from all age groups however all have a pattern that the female raters scored a higher average than the male raters, this may be because there is a slight element of romance in the film as well as thriller.

These are a preview of some of the reviews for Now You See Me that can be found on the site Rotten tomatoes(link is below the picture). The website uses either a tomato to indicate a good review of a rotten green mess for a bad review. Despite the fact there are a lot more tomatoes than green mess below in these reviews there are still criticisms such as "the character development has vanished" and "complicated nonsense" however there were great comments such as "original" and use of "witty dialogue".

In conclusion I believe that from my audience research into Now you See Me that our own opening to our thriller shouldn't be to complicated for our audience to understand and it should be original and innovative and I believe our film should be aimed at the age group of 18 to 29.
