One Hour Photo- Character Profile Analysis

One hour photo (opening 4 minutes)

Camera-The use of an establishing shot of the house suggests that the people living their are rich and possibly overindulged people.

A close up is used on Mr. Parishs face and he looks upset,this implies he is a character who can empathize with others and can feel sympathy for what we assume he has done to the boy and he may be nervous about the consequences of his actions.The close up on Mr.Parish cutting the pictures into equal divisions suggests he is a perfectionist.

Editing- There is a use of a flash back during the clip which implies that the situation has been repeated in his head and maybe because he feels guilty about what he did.
There is a slow cutting rhythm during the clip which suggests that this is a leisurely time for the characters in the clip.
There is a use of cross cutting between the boy playing his video game and the conversation between his mum and dad,this may imply that they do not spend a lot of time together because they are in different places in the house,they may be solitary people as a family.

Mise en Scene-On the computer in the clip,  the dad is using some design software which shows he must be quite skilled in what he does and this may implies he is well educated. The use of props are used in the clip when the boy is in his room on the games console and when he is getting his presents for his birthday, this suggests that the boy is materialistic.The amount of actors in the party scene for the boys birthday party suggests that this boy is popular.In the clip there is a shot of a room which is a room with 1 way glass and a TV screen with live footage into the room with the character Mr.Parish,the fact that he is being watched all the time suggests he may be a dangerous person. The costume of the man interviewing Mr.Parish was wearing a shirt and tie and a watch.This implies this character is a very serious character who is smart and authoritative.

Sound- Firstly non diegetic dialogue is used in the clip where the character Mr.Parish says "can I see them?" when the police officer says about the disturbing pictures found on Mr.Parish's camera,this suggests he is creepy and disturbed because he still wants to see the photos despite the fact the officer said they were bad.Non diegetic sound is used when Diegetic sound is used in the form of a narrative by Mr.Parish and he says "you don't take pictures of things you want to forget", this suggests that he did not want to forget the "disturbing pictures" that he took so this suggests Mr parish is a troubled person.
Diegetic music at the start of the clip the music has a fast repetitive rhythm almost like the sound of a clock and a scratching sound which makes you believe the person you are about to see is creepy and disturbed. 
Diegetic sound is later used in the clip when there is a flash back, the music is instrumental and happy,this suggests the people in this flash back will also be happy and friendly.
