Preliminary task Planning

Preliminary Task Planning

 Preliminary Task-

Here is our storyboard; the first shot in our preliminary task will be a close up on a door handle moving open. Next there will be a side view of a man running out the door, (we may use a gradual zoom out and change in angle to get them to the side view of the man running). After is a wide shot of the man running and the action is coming towards the camera so when he gets to us the shot will be a close up. Later there is a match-on-action cut when the man does a forward roll, one view of the action is a side view and the other is a wide shot from the front, one of these may be in slow motion. A jump cut to a close up on the characters shoes happens next, this will probably be on stairs. There is then a low angle shot on the stairs. There is another jump cut to the character and another man in a room, probably with low key lighting, this scene has an aerial view. Next is an over the shoulder shot of a conversation between the 2 characters then something dramatic will be revealed and there will be a reaction shot or an extreme close up.
Close up of handle shutting
wide shot walking to van door

Alternative preliminary storyboard- Our other preliminary task story was based on the idea of a kidnapping and the storyboard was focused around the prop of a van however we realized it would be difficult to be able to find a person willing to lend us their van so we had to opt for a simpler idea.Below are a few shots we decided upon for our other idea with captions.

Match on action shot of the van pulling away

Over the shoulder shots of conversation between 2 criminals

After we decided for our first idea we decided to create our script for our preliminary task, we decided on limited speech, and not a large conversation between the two actresses, and we were focusing on the camera aspect and the physicality of the performance rather than the acting. The conversation went like this:

Person 1: You got them? ( indicating some kind of drug money exchange)

Person 2: No (short and sharp, a bit scared)

Person 1: Well, we are going to have a problem then (menacing and threatening, with a angry tone)
