Cross sub genres associated with thrillers


Sub genres of thrillers are action, horror, crime and mystery.

Horror- Horror unlike thriller has the intent of scaring the audience using their fears.They may be realistic to an extent but they are often dramatized.If they are not realistic they may use make believe creatures such as ghosts or zombies to scare the audience. They can often be very gory and like thrillers they have suspense.Top horror films are the exorcist,the shining and Alien.

Crime-obviously crime film unlike thriller films always focus around a crime of some sort and  there is often a complicated story plot which keeps the audience interested providing clues along the way about who we think committed the crime and there may be perspectives of the crime from different peoples point of view,the film may end with a surprise twist.Famous crime films include the godfather,goodfellas and reservoir dogs.

Action- Action in thriller will have only a few chase scenes or fighting scenes whereas an action film will have action sequences all the way through the film.Famous action films include The hunger games,Lone survivor and Redirected.

Mystery- This genre of film will often also always revolve around a mysterious crime which needs to be solved.There is normally a complicated plot with clues given throughout the film and detail is often key.In these types of films there is often the use of foreshadowing to make the audience believe something will happen instead of what really does so there is sometimes a unexpected twist at the end of the film.Examples of mystery films include Chinatown,The usual suspects and Inception.
