Firstly I will be looking at the order of credits in Seven as this will help us later when we are making our film opening to know what order we should put the credits into. start it's the production company, the producer, star actor, next key actor, the film title, main actress, all other actors/actresses, casting, music by, costumes by, edited by, production designed by, director of photography, producers, co-executive producers, executive producers, written by, produced by and finally directed by.
The timings for the credits in this film are an average of 3 seconds for each person in the credits and 5 seconds for the film.
Another prop which is either money or paper of some sort features the word "in god" which has religious connotations and may link to heaven\hell and death.
The lighting in the credits is low key which creates the idea of mystery because during some parts of the clip the lighting is focused on 1 item, this suggests this item is important and may be a clue to the audience as to what happens later in the film. From the middle of the credits there is also a use of red in the clip and the color red has the connotation of danger and the red may link to blood which makes the audience worried.
Sound-
In the opening credits the only sound that is used is non diegetic which is in the form of the music. The music uses a scratchy sound which sounds like a radio frequency which makes you think he might be listening into a conversation. There is also a creaking sound during the music which makes the viewer feel nervous. At the end of the credits there is a voice that sings "you're going to be closer to god" which has religious connotations and may link to death and heaven/hell.
Editing-A jump cut is used throughout the credits, often between credits and other details in the scene for example where he is making the book, this creates a contrast between a plain environment with only a little bit of writing on the page compared with a detailed small clips that last about 5 seconds each, the jump cut back to the credits gives the audience a little bit of time to react to what they just saw.
The cutting rate in the credits are very quick which give the audience very little time to see details of what is happening in the clip which makes the audience feel scared because what's flashing before the audiences eyes might be a secret.
A Superimposition (an overlap of 2 clips)is used in the clip when the person is using the pen to write in his book, this is sort of like a time lapse and it implies this person has spent a lot of time on this book they are making which may also suggest they are obsessed with what is in this book, this makes the audience question what is in the book and why this person in the clip may appear to be so obsessed with it.Camera- Throughout the credits a point of view shot is used and we assume this is from the point of view of the killer which makes the audience feel anxious as to what he is doing.Extreme close ups are also used through out the clip which shows details of the person making the book and some of the contents of the book which makes the audience feel jittery.
